Hello, It’s been a while……let’s catch up.
2015 began with a much needed cake detox! Each New Year I promise myself this is the year I will be more healthy and aim for a slimmer me. It always starts well but eventually the cake cravings begin and before I know it I’ve reversed all my good work with crazy cake binge and I give up!
This year though started differently, sure i have indulged in a few sweet treats here and there but I always “get back on the wagon” and carry on. I feel so much better for it and I get to ALMOST have my cake and eat it.
So what changed?….. well the support and motivation of one of my best friends to start, we decided to help each other by sharing tips and motivational texts when that bad day is starting to get the better of you and all you want is a giant tub of Haagen Daz. Did you see weighing up the enemy? Think that but a lot friendlier. This book, Eat, Nourish, Glow also opened my eyes to what I have been putting into my body and the effects it might be having. I also invested in some new cookbooks , Hemsley & Hemsley and Deliciously Ella and I’ve not looked back!
Now I’m not saying I don’t occasionally have a blowout on a Domino’s or a couple of glasses of wine on a Friday after work but I’m more aware of those blowouts and have stopped feeling guilty which gives me the motivation to carry on instead of what I’d usually do give up and carry on eating badly.
I make more of an effort to make all our meals from scratch and avoid any form of processed foods, pasta bakes, microwave meals etc. We have mainly vegetable based meals with meat based meals once or twice a week, I never thought I’d be satisfied eating a bowl of courgette noodles yet alone enjoy it but I really do.
What does this mean for Little Cake Tin? Less baking….maybe. More nourishing recipes?…..definitely! All wrapped around general life updates and anything else I want to share with you.
The first order of business is this new series, once a month I will be posting a Insta Food Review, a run through of all the delicious foods I have either cooked myself, baked myself or sampled out and about in Chester and beyond.
So welcome back and I hope you like the new sides of Little Cake Tin.
