Last week I had a lovely surprise to find out that I had won 2 tickets for the Cake and Bake Show in Manchester courtesy of Jen from Blue Kitchen Bake, so I called my friends and we arranged a foodie gathering! One of my friends has recently moved to York so it was the perfect event to meet and catch up.
We arrived early afternoon amongst a sea of excited cake fans, the show was so huge we didn’t know where to begin! One of our first stops was the Gingerbread village, the gingerbread house competition was amazing and it has given me so many ideas for my Christmas gingerbread house project (yes that’s right I’ve already started thinking about Christmas). The show was full of stands demonstrating of sugar craft techniques, baking tutorials and recipe challenges with the Great British Bake Off contestants.
I also met lots of new food companies… I discovered Joe & Seph’s popcorn – how have I never had them before?! The Marshmallowists introduced me to some amazing flavour combinations all in the delectable cube of mallow! I also got a chance to meet Lynn Hill from Clandestine Cake Club and we got to speak about all things cake club… I’m so excited to attend the Chester club this week.
Once we had taken in all the Cake and Bake show had to offer the four of us headed to Home Sweet Home for our tea. After a long walk we finally found it and boy were we glad we did, the food, drink and atmosphere was amazing! I had the Pulled Pork Pile Up, it was so gorgeous in fact I wish I was back there enjoying the meal again. Anyone in or visiting Manchester I thoroughly recommend you give this place a try, you will not be disappointed!
We all enjoyed ourselves so much we have decided to make it a regular thing and have a foodie gathering in new and exciting places once a month so expect more posts like this…..
